Prepárense para un viaje, porque vamos a bucear en cada detalle, desde la limpieza hasta si te dejan llevarte la bata (spoiler: probablemente no).
Empecemos con lo básico (y lo que REALMENTE importa):
¿Es accesible? (¡IMPORTANTE!)
A ver, a ver… En serio, esto es CRUCIAL. El Thunderbird Pardo parece que sí, más o menos. Tienen ascensor, lo cual es un GRAN plus. Y mencionan "Facilities for disabled guests". PERO, necesito saber MÁS. ¿Hay rampas? ¿Los baños son accesibles de verdad? Necesito saberlo con certeza. Si viajan con alguien que necesita movilidad reducida, CONTACTEN DIRECTAMENTE AL HOTEL. No se fíen solo de mi palabra (aunque siempre digo la verdad… a medias, jejeje). Accessibility, Wheelchair accessible… estas palabras clave son importantes para Google, pero para ti, es tu tranquilidad. Accessibility es fundamental.

Wi-Fi en public areas… perfecto para presumir tus fotos en Instagram mientras te tomas un café. ¡Espero que funcione bien, porque la paciencia se me acaba rápido!

Uf, esto es un must ahora. Cleanliness and safety… ¡IMPORTANTE! El hotel menciona Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Doctor/nurse on call, Hand sanitizer, Hot water, linen and laundry washing, Hygiene certification, Physical distancing of at least 1 meter, Professional-grade sanitizing services, Rooms sanitized between stays, Safe dining setup, Sanitized kitchen and tableware items, Staff trained in safety protocol, Sterilizing equipment. ¡MUCHAS cosas! Parece que se lo toman en serio. Individually-wrapped food options… bien, bien. Room sanitization opt-out available: ¿Qué es eso? ¿Puedes elegir no desinfectar tu habitación? Raro, pero ok. Smoke alarms, Fire extinguisher, CCTV in common areas, CCTV outside property… ¡Bien por la seguridad! Me da tranquilidad… aunque, a veces, tanta seguridad me hace sentir como en una cárcel VIP.

Y las opciones Asian breakfast, Asian cuisine in restaurant, Western breakfast, Western cuisine in restaurant… ¡Variedad! Coffee/tea in restaurant, Coffee shop… ¡necesito mi café! Desserts in restaurant… ¡Por favor, que tengan buen postre! (Lo más importante, admitámoslo). Happy hour… ¡A brindar! Snack bar, Poolside bar…. ¡Perfecto para el relax! Room service [24-hour]… ¡Para los antojos de medianoche! Vegetarian restaurant… ¡Buen punto para los veggies! Salad in restaurant, Soup in restaurant… ¿Y ya? ¡Me da hambre! Alternative meal arrangement… ¿Por si eres un poco especial con la comida? Me gusta.
¡Mi experiencia personal! (Aquí es donde se pone bueno… y desordenado.) Estuve MUY impresionado con el buffet del desayuno. ¡De verdad! Con ese Breakfast [buffet] y el Coffee/tea in restaurant… Tenían de todo, desde los clásicos huevos revueltos hasta opciones más peruanas. Incluso ¡tenían panqueques con miel! (Grité de alegría). La fruta fresca era deliciosa, el café… bueno, el café era OK. Mejorable. Y el servicio del desayuno… ¡La chica que nos atendió era un sol! (¡Espero que le paguen bien!)
Relax, relax, relax… (¿O no?)
Ways to relax: Este es mi departamento. O al menos, debería serlo.
Body scrub, Body wrap, Foot bath, Massage, Spa, Spa/sauna, Steamroom, Sauna, Swimming pool, Swimming pool [outdoor], Pool with view… ¡UFFFFF! Me quiero relajar. Ya sabes, dejar que la vida fluya…
Fitness center, Gym/fitness,… ¿Ah, sí? Yo, personalmente, prefiero el "gym/fitness de mi sofá". Pero bueno, para los que les gusta sudar, está bien.
Mi experiencia (¡de relax!): Intenté ir al spa. Intenté. Llamé, pregunté, pero… ¡No me quedó claro! No había nadie que me explicara bien las opciones. ¡Un desastre! Me quedé con las ganas de un masaje. (Mal, muy mal, Thunderbird Pardo. ¡Me decepcionaste!) Pero, la Swimming pool [outdoor]… ¡Era una maravilla! La Pool with view era INCREÍBLE. (Eso sí, ¡cuidado con el sol!). Me pasé una tarde entera flotando, sin pensar en nada… (Salvo en la hora del almuerzo.) ¡Ah! Y el Bar de la piscina, ¡perfecto! Un Mojito después de nadar… la gloria.

¡Ay, Dios mío! Okay, here we go. My plan for a (hopefully) glorious stay at the Thunderbird Hotel Pardo in Peru. Note: This isn't a perfectly polished, Insta-worthy itinerary. This is REAL LIFE, people!
Dia 1: Lima, ¡Y Un Poco de Caos!
- 8:00 AM: Alarm. Ugh. Okay, gotta drag myself out of bed. I'd packed my bags the night before, but of course, I forgot to… charge my phone. Brilliant.
- 9:30 AM: Arriving at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM). Ah, the familiar buzz of the airport. Always a mix of excitement and "please-don't-lose-my-luggage" anxiety. Immigration was surprisingly smooth… until I realized my passport photo looked like I'd been mugged by a camera.
- 10:30 AM: Taxi to the Thunderbird Hotel Pardo. The driver, bless his heart, drove like he was auditioning for a Fast & Furious movie. Lima traffic is NO JOKE. I swear, my heart skipped a beat or two dodging those combi buses.
- 11:30 AM: ¡Check-in Time! Found the hotel. The lobby is pretty nice, I'll give it that. A bit… sterile? I'm sure it'll feel lived-in soon.
- 12:00 PM: Room reveal. And, OMG, the view! Balcony overlooking the city. Okay, I can get used to this. Though, tiny, the bathroom is also clean. Success! However, The AC is working intermittently - facepalm - but meh, I'm in Peru!
- 1:00 PM: Lunch at the hotel restaurant. Ordered the Lomo Saltado. It was good, but a little… bland? Maybe my taste buds are still adjusting. Or maybe I'm just really hungry. Also, the waiter looked incredibly hungover. Sympathy points. I'll get over it.
- 2:30 PM: Taking a deep breath, the idea is to walk to the Miraflores district to do some souvenir shopping and check out the Barranco district. Oh, but the heat! Still humid and hot. UGGGH!
- 3:00 PM: I'm starting to feel the altitude. Wheezing a little bit. Remember to breathe.
- 3:30 PM: I feel the desire to check out the Larcomar shopping mall. I'll do it later - it's hot, walking, and I'm already dizzy.
- 4:00 PM: Back to the hotel. I'm pooped, need a nap. I should definitely spend my time in the hotel, rest, and recharge.
- 6:00 PM: Wake up. Feel a bit better.
- 7:00 PM: Dinner at "Isolina." Oh, man! That place is amazing! The place is packed, but it's worth the wait. The food is HUGE, the flavors are incredible, and the ambiance is vibrant. I may have accidentally eaten a pile of fried potatoes that would feed a small family, but no regrets. This restaurant is the real deal.
- 9:00 PM: Back to the hotel. Exhausted but happy. Collapsed into bed and instantly fell asleep.
Dia 2: Exploring Miraflores and Coastal Adventures (and maybe some tears)
- 8:00 AM: Slept like a baby, the intermittent AC didn't bother me at all.
- 9:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel. Standard fare: fruit, eggs, bread. Nothing to write home about, but it does the job. And that tiny coffee? Pure fuel.
- 10:00 AM: Time for the Miraflores district! Wandering through the Parque del Amor, you know, that park, with the sculptures with a view of the ocean.
- 11:30 AM: Paragliding! Yes, me! I was terrified, but the view was worth it. Soar above the cliffs, the ocean stretched out below me. Pure, unadulterated joy. Even got a video of it. I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF!
- 1:00 PM: Lunch at a cevichería near the coast. Ceviche, of course. Fresh, tangy, the best thing I've ever tasted. The salty air, the ocean breeze, the sun… it was perfect.
- 2:30 PM: Strolling along the Malecon (coastal walkway). Watching the surfers, feeling the wind, and just letting it all wash over me. This is what it's all about, isn't it?
- 3:00 PM: More shopping. Trying to NOT buy everything I see. Failed.
- 4:00 PM: Back to Thunderbird. A little rest, of course.
- 6:00 PM: Dinner. The restaurant is delicious, but now my brain is tired, I have to find my place, my book, what was I thinking?
- 6:30 PM: I'M FINALLY READING MY BOOK!
- 7:30 PM: I was reading until I fell asleep.
Dia 3: Cultura, A Little Regret, And Goodbyes (for Now)
- 8:00 AM: Alarm. Ugh. But, gotta go!
- 9:00 AM: Quick hotel breakfast.
- 10:00 AM: Time for the Larco Museum. The Museum is very nice.
- 12:00 PM: Lunch near the museum. Trying to find some traditional Peruvian food but it was touristy.
- 1:00 PM: Thinking, maybe I should have gone to the San Isidro district.
- 2:00 PM: Shopping at the shops in front of the hotel. I found a nice necklace.
- 3:00 PM: Back to the Thunderbird for the last time.
- 4:00 PM: Packing.
- 5:00 PM: The hotel is nice. I had a great time. But I'm ready to go now.
- 6:00 PM: Dinner near the hotel.
- 7:00 PM: My flight is at midnight.
- 8:00 PM: Leaving the hotel for Miraflores.
- 10:00 PM: In the airport, waiting for my flight back.

- The Altitude: Seriously. Take it easy on your first day. Drink plenty of water.

- Spanish: My Spanish is atrocious, but I'm trying! Get a phrasebook and be patient. People are generally very friendly.

¿Qué rayos es Thunderbird Pardo y por qué todos están hablando de él?
¡Ay, Thunderbird Pardo! Es como... el secreto a voces. Básicamente, es un hotel en Miraflores, Lima, Perú. Y la razón por la que todos hablan de él... bueno, es un poco complicado. Digamos que el marketing hace magia, ¿sabes? Pero, la verdad, es que es chic, moderno, y según dicen, con unas vistas alucinantes. ¡Aunque yo no vi gran cosa, por la niebla limeña! Pero, ¿por qué la gente se obsesiona? Porque es "cool", porque sale en Instagram... y porque de alguna forma, te hace sentir más "viajero experimentado" que el resto. (Me pregunto si también venden un filtro para fotos más auténticas...)
¿Las habitaciones son realmente tan lujosas como dicen? ¡Porque, vamos! Perú no es Suiza…
¡Okay, aquí viene la cruda realidad (y mi opinión)! Sí, son bonitas. Modernas, limpias, con esas camas que te tragan y no te dejan salir. Pero, ¿"lujosas"? Uhmmm... depende de tu definición de lujo. No son como el Ritz, ¿vale? Eso de "lujo" en Perú a veces significa "sábanas blancas y un intento de diseño moderno". La mía tenía una vista... a un edificio de enfrente. Literalmente, podía ver a la señora que regaba las plantas. ¡Qué emoción! Pero, hey, la ducha tenía buena presión. Eso cuenta, ¿no?
¿El desayuno buffet es realmente memorable, como dicen en las reseñas? ¿Con Pisco Sour incluido a las 7 AM?
¡Ah, el desayuno! Aquí es donde las reseñas se ponen... un poco exageradas. Sí, hay un buffet. Sí, hay fruta fresca, jugos, pan que intenta ser francés... Y probablemente, sí, te puedes hacer un Pisco Sour a las 7 AM (¡si eres lo suficientemente valiente!). El problema... es que, a las 7 AM, mi cuerpo todavía está en modo "apagar y dormir". Y para ser sincera, el café era regular. Pero, la vista desde el comedor… ¡esa sí que era bonita! Mirabas a la calle, las palmeras,… y pensabas “¿Por qué no estoy en la cama?”. ¡Mejor que el desayuno, era el personal! ¡Siempre sonriente, siempre dispuesto a ayudarte! Esos sí que te hacen querer volver… y te sientes culpable por quejarte del café.
¿Debería reservar en Thunderbird Pardo? ¿O es solo otro hotel "hype"?
¡Esta es la gran pregunta! A ver... Si buscas un hotel que te haga sentir "cool", que tenga buen WiFi para subir fotos a Instagram y que esté en una zona segura y concurrida... sí, resérvalo. Si buscas el "lujo" de verdad, o una experiencia *auténticamente peruana* (¡qué palabra tan usada!), puede que te decepciones un poco. Yo fui con expectativas... altas. Y salí sintiendo que ¡me había gastado mi dinero en un hotel con demasiada espuma en el cappuccino! Pero... a pesar de todo, lo pasé bien. Conocí a una chica que me contó que el bartender le había robado el corazón. (¡Es más, creo que también le robó el celular!). Ella fue felíz. Así que... ¿Deberías reservar? Depende de ti. Pero no esperes la perfección. Es un hotel, con sus cosas buenas y con sus cosas *más o menos* buenas. ¡Y a veces, eso es lo que lo hace interesante!
¿Cómo es el personal del hotel? ¿Son amables?
¡El personal! ¡Esa sí que fue una experiencia! En serio, la gente que trabaja ahí... ¡eran geniales! Desde la chica que me ayudó a subir las maletas (¡pesaban más que yo!) hasta el señor que me preparaba el café (aunque el café no fuera lo mejor del mundo, como ya dije), todos eran súper amables y atentos. Un día, estaba con un dolor de cabeza terrible (¡culpa del Pisco Sour de la noche anterior, lo juro!), y me consiguieron unas pastillas. Otro día, mi cargador del celular dejó de funcionar (¡tragedia!), y me prestaron uno. Siempre con una sonrisa, ¡siempre dispuestos a ayudar! En serio, el personal es un gran punto a favor del Thunderbird Pardo. ¡Son la verdadera joya del hotel! Y eso, amigos míos, vale más que cualquier desayuno lujoso o vista espectacular.
¿Hay algo que *realmente* no te gustó del hotel? ¡Sé honesto!
¡Ah, la honestidad! Vale, sí. Hubo algo que me molestó un poco. ¡El ruido! ¡Maldito ruido! A pesar de estar en una zona "segura" y "tranquila", se escuchaba el tráfico a todas horas. Y los coches con música a todo volumen (¡¿por qué, Perú, por qué?!). Y los... perros que ladran (¡parece un deporte nacional!). Y una vez, escuché a alguien roncar a través de la pared. ¡Una pesadilla! Así que, si eres sensible al ruido, ¡lleva tapones para los oídos! O reza (¡o ambas cosas!). Porque, sino, vas a pasar más tiempo despierto que durmiendo. ¡Y para eso no pagas por un hotel "bonito"!
¿Volverías a Thunderbird Pardo?
¡Eh, buena pregunta! A ver... con todo lo que he dicho, ¿volvería? Probablemente sí. A pesar de los ruidos, el café mediocre y la vista a la pared, ¡la experiencia fue... memorable! (Vale, quizás estoy exagerando un poco). Pero, el personal fue increíble, la ubicación es perfecta para explorar Miraflores... y la chica del bar... (¡ok, no voy a empezar otra vez con ella!). Quizás, con tapones para los oídos y menos expectativas, podría disfrutarlo aún más la próxima vez. Pero, definitivamente, no me lo venderían como "el hotel que te va a cambiar la vida". Es un buen hotel, punto. Y a veces, eso es suficiente. ¿O no?
