¡Ay, Dios mío, qué hotel! ¡Grand View Hotel Grecia! Suena pomposo, ¿verdad? Bueno, preparaos, porque la experiencia… ufff, es como una montaña rusa emocional. ¡Pero una que vale la pena subir!
¡Las Vistas! (¡Y la Impaciencia!)
Prometo que las vistas realmente te dejarán sin aliento. Literalmente. Llegué después de un vuelo infernal, una cola en el aeropuerto digna de una película de zombis y el estrés de haber olvidado mi adaptador. ¡Un desastre! Pero, cuando las puertas del taxi se abrieron y ¡BOOM! La vista… Acabar con mi ansiedad, así de rápido. (Pool with view!) El puto paraíso. La piscina infinita, el cielo griego, bueno, la vida en alta definición. ¡Me emocioné! Empecé a gritar… ¡"¡Espera, espera! ¡Necesito una foto! ¡MÁS! ¡Más fotos!" (Perdón a los demás huéspedes).
Check-in, Check-out, ¡Y el Drama!
El check-in/out [express] fue bastante rápido, aunque la chica de la recepción… bueno, digamos que no estaba teniendo su mejor día. Un pelín seria. Supongo que ya estaba harta de mi drama. (Check-in/out [private]?) ¡Ojalá! Necesitaba terapia individual en ese momento. Pero, el hotel ofrece contactless check-in/out, que es como el futuro, ¿no? Especialmente después de la paranoia del aeropuerto.
¡La Habitación! (¡Aire Acondicionado, Aleluya!)

Empecemos por el principio: Breakfast [buffet]. ¡Un buffet, señores! ¡Paraíso! (Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, A la carte in restaurant, Alternative meal arrangement, Coffee/tea in restaurant…) Había de todo. Crêpes, bacon crujiente, frutas frescas… ¡Me atraganté! (Room service [24-hour]): ¡Genial para esos antojos nocturnos! Un día, pedí un sándwich a las tres de la mañana… ¡CULPABLE!
¡El Spa! (¡Y Mis Problemas de Autoestima!)
Body scrub, Body wrap, Foot bath, Massage, Sauna, Spa, Spa/sauna, Steamroom… Aquí es donde la cosa se pone interesante. Me regalé un día de spa. ¡Y vaya día! El sauna… ¡caliente! El massage… ¡celestial! Pero, ay, el body wrap… Me envolvieron en algas, ¡parecía un salchichón gigante! Y ¡cuidado con el gym/fitness! ¡Me vi a mí misma en el espejo! No quiero entrar en detalles.

¡Albatros Ocean View: El Paraíso Tanzano que te Robará el Corazón!
¡Ay, Dios mío! Here's a "trip"… and I use the term loosely, because planning is not my strong suit, to the Grand View Hotel in Greece. This isn't your perfectly curated Instagram feed, people. This is real life. Buckle up!
Grand View Hotel: My Greek Meltdown (and Maybe a Little Happiness)
Day 1: Arrival - Chaos & Olives
- 9:00 AM (ish): Wake up. Or more accurately, drag myself out of bed in a perpetual state of jet lag induced by… well, I don't know. I got the tickets wrong. I still believe the plane will be late.
- 9:30 AM: Stuff my suitcase. Okay, maybe it was more like "force-feed" my suitcase. How does one pack for Greece? Do they have rules about sparkly sequined tops? (Spoiler alert: YES. I packed too many.) I'm pretty sure I accidentally packed a whole bottle of hairspray. Oops.
- 11:00 AM (more or less): FINALLY make it to the airport. Stress level: Already past a 10. Check-in fiasco: The airline lost my luggage… Good start!
- En Route: The plane – the worst part. So cramped and stuffy! Why do people clap when the plane lands? It's… landing. They should clap when you finally get to your hotel room!
- 6:00 PM (maybe?): Land in Greece! Sun is like a warm hug. Instant relief washes over me. Then I get hit in the head by a rogue roller suitcase. Ah, Greece.
- 7:00 PM: Arrive at the Grand View. Okay, okay. The view. It's spectacular. Seriously, breathtaking. Like, "I might actually stay here forever" breathtaking. The hotel itself? Charming in a slightly… faded glory kind of way. Think "old movie star who still knows how to work a room."
- 8:00 PM: Room check. The bathroom is tiny. Like, I could probably brush my teeth whilst simultaneously showering. And what is with the toilet paper? It's like tissue paper! But the balcony? Worth it. The sea! The sunset! I could write poetry here. (I probably won't, though. I'm more of a "snack and stare" kind of a poet.)
- 9:00 PM: Dinner at the hotel restaurant. Order everything. Try to look sophisticated. Fail. The waiter (young, very handsome, probably half my age) looks at me like I'm the faded glory. The olives, though. OMG, the olives. I could eat them all night. And the local wine? Perfect. I'm officially in love with Greece. (Until my lost luggage shows up, anyway.)
Day 2: The Beach & The Blunders
- 8:00 AM: Wake up with a slight headache. Blame it on the wine. Blame it on the olives. Blame it on the fact that I'm convinced the ceiling is too high.
- 9:00 AM: Breakfast. It comes with a buffet of deliciousness that is my second love. Coffee. Yogurt with honey! Fresh fruit! I swear, I'm going to start eating like this at home. (Lies. All lies.)
- 10:00 AM: Head to the beach. Finally. Sunscreen: Check. Hat: Check. Confidence in my ability to wear a bathing suit: Still questionable.
- 10:30 AM: Find a spot on the beach. The sand is perfect. The water? Crystal clear. The scene? Picture postcard worthy. Then, disaster. My sunglasses. They're gone. Vanished. Did I leave them on my balcony? Nope. Did I fall in the sea and lose it? Nope. Did I give them to a stray cat? Maybe. I swear I’m losing my mind.
- 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Swim, sunbathe, and contemplate the meaning of life (without sunglasses). The waves? Amazing. The sun? Aggressive. The people-watching? Highly entertaining. I watch men in Speedos, and I feel a small tear drop down my cheek.
- 3:00 PM: Lunch at a beachside taverna. Decided to eat a greek salad. Oh god, the salad. I would never return.
- 4:00 PM: Head to the hotel and take a nap.
- 6:00 PM: The lost luggage arrived. Great news! I can finally unpack.
- 7:00 PM: Dinner with my new friend at the hotel. Then we talk and laugh about the day.
Day 3: Exploring & Existential Crises (Mostly Existential)
- 9:00 AM: Actually, I wake up at 8 am and finally hit the gym.
- 10:00 AM: A boat tour. The guide, Dimitri, is gorgeous. He's also incredibly knowledgeable, which I appreciate, even if I’m too distracted by his smile to remember much. The caves were breathtaking, the water a brilliant turquoise (like, more than a turquoise, it's almost… alive!), and I’m pretty sure I saw a sea turtle and I am crying from happiness.
- 12:00 PM: Lunch on the boat. More Greek salad.
- 2:00 PM: Return to the hotel. Contemplate the universe. Wonder why I'm not married with 2.5 kids in a cute house. Conclude that the universe is probably wrong (and maybe a little bit cruel).
- 3:30 PM: Dip in the hotel pool to relax and reflect. I meet a family and we are all just floating in the pool.
- 7:00 PM: Dinner. Attempt to be cultured. Order something I've never heard of. It's… interesting. Then order the olives. Always the olives.
- 9:00 PM: Sit on my balcony, stare at the stars, and feel… content. Which is probably more happiness than my cynical self deserves. Maybe Greece is working its magic. Or maybe it's just the wine.
Day 4: More adventures!
- 9:00 AM: Breakfast - I get the same thing.
- 10:00 AM: Start packing
- 12:00 AM: Checking out of the hotel
Final Thoughts:
This was, undoubtedly, the greatest vacation of my life. The Grand View Hotel? It's not perfect. But it's real. Messy, imperfect, full of olives, and full of moments that made me laugh, cry, and contemplate the meaning of a rogue pair of sunglasses. I'll be back. I'll need to be!

¿De verdad las vistas son TAAAN buenas como dicen en Grand View Hotel Grecia? ¡Porque las fotos de Instagram ya me tienen… jaque mate!
¡Ay, dios mío, por donde empezar! Mira, las redes sociales… engañosas, ¿verdad? Filtros, ángulos perfectos… Pero, te juro, en este caso, ¡la realidad supera la ficción! Cuando llegas al balcón… ufff… Es como si te dieran una bofetada de aire fresco y belleza. Literalmente, te quedas sin aliento. Recuerdo la primera vez, llegué con el pelo hecho un desastre por el viaje (¡pobre de mí!) y me quedé boquiabierta. Era como… ¡un cuadro! La inmensidad del valle, el sol pintando las montañas… y el silencio… solo roto por el canto de los pájaros. Eso sí, prepárate para la humedad. ¡Grecia es verde, verde, verde! Y a veces, un poco… vaporoso. Pero, créeme, la vista vale CADA segundo de pelo encrespado.
¿Las habitaciones tienen aire acondicionado? Porque yo soy de las que suda con solo mirar la ventana.
¡Ah, el aire acondicionado! Un invento divino. Sí, las habitaciones tienen. Y es, como dicen, "God sent". Después de un día explorando Grecia bajo el sol abrasador, volver a la habitación y encontrar ese aire fresco es… Gloria pura. Eso sí, a veces (y esto es con toda honestidad), el aire acondicionado es un poco... "caprichoso". A veces funciona como una maravilla, otras... necesita un poco de "persuasión" (léase: darle un golpecito, ajustar los diales… sí, yo también soy de esas). Pero, en general, sí, ¡olvídate del sudor! Duermes como un bebé (o como yo, que a veces ronco como un oso, pero eso es otro tema...). Ah, y lleva un buen pijama, ¡por si acaso!
¿Hay WiFi? ¿Porque, ya sabes, el mundo no se detiene y necesito subir fotos para Instagram.
WiFi… ¡El gran dilema moderno! Sí, hay WiFi. Pero (siempre hay un "pero", ¿verdad?). Funciona… a veces. Y a veces… no tanto. Digamos que es un poco… intermitente. A veces, puedes subir fotos a la velocidad de la luz, otras… parece que estás peleando con un caracol. El problema, creo, es que las paredes son gruesas (¡muy bueno para el calor!), pero no tanto para las señales inalámbricas. Mi consejo: sé paciente. Disfruta del momento. Y, si es absolutamente imprescindible, busca un buen lugar con mejor señal (¡el balcón suele ser una apuesta segura!). Y, por cierto, ¡a veces es liberador desconectarse! No te lo digo yo, te lo dice la terapeuta... ¡Mentalmente, me refiero!
¿El desayuno está incluido? ¡Soy de buen comer!
¡El desayuno! La comida más importante del día… ¡y para mí, la más emocionante! Sí, está incluido. Y… es decente. No esperes un festín de cinco estrellas, pero hay fruta fresca, pan, embutidos, huevos… y el café, ¡el café es BUENO! Sobre todo después de una noche de insomnio mirando las estrellas (¡la vista desde ahí es ESPECTACULAR!). Lo mejor del desayuno… ¡las vistas! Comer con esa panorama… ¡es un placer! Recuerdo un día… me levanté con un hambre canina (¡después de esa noche de contemplación estelar!), y me comí… ¡todo! Literalmente, todo. El camarero me miró con una mezcla de asombro y simpatía. ¡Y me trajo más café! ¡Un campeón! (Y si no te gusta el café, tienen zumos, pero… ¡el café es la clave!).
¿Qué tal es el personal? ¿Son amables? Soy un poco… "difícil" a veces.
¡El personal! ¡Ah, la gente! Mira, son amables. ¡MUY amables! Son de esos que te saludan con una sonrisa, te preguntan cómo estás… Incluso si estás hecho un lío (que a veces, uno lo está, ¿verdad?). Son gente trabajadora y, sobre todo, muy serviciales. Recuerdo que una vez, me olvidé mi cargador del móvil (¡pánico!). Y el chico de recepción me ayudó a buscar uno… ¡y hasta me lo prestó! ¡Un ángel! Eso sí, a veces (y esto es con cariño, ¡eh!), la comunicación es un poco… "a la greña". No todos hablan inglés perfectamente. Pero, con un poco de paciencia, gestos y Google Translate, ¡todo se soluciona! ¡Y te aseguro que su buena voluntad compensa cualquier barrera idiomática! ¡Son un encanto! (Y si eres "difícil", como dices, ¡seguro que te ganan con su amabilidad!).
¿Hay restaurantes cerca? ¿Y si me da un antojo a las 3 de la mañana? (no me juzgues…)
¡Antojos a las 3 de la mañana! ¡Me declaro culpable! A ver, cerca, cerca… No hay gran cosa. ¡Grecia es… tranquila! Pero, no te preocupes, ¡sí hay opciones! Hay un par de restaurantes a unos minutos en coche (¡pregunta en recepción, te darán todas las indicaciones!). Y, si te da un antojo a esas horas… ¡prepara algo en la habitación (si puedes!). O, si eres como yo, ¡siempre puedes recurrir a las galletas de avena que llevas de reserva! (¡A veces, la solución está en la sencillez!). ¡Y otra cosa! ¡Explora la cultura local! ¡Prueba las "tapas" griegas! ¡Son una maravilla! Y, si te da mucho, mucho, mucho hambre, un taxi siempre es una opción (¡pero prepárate para que la cuenta no sea barata!).
¿Qué tal son las camas? ¿Son cómodas? Porque a veces, duermo como un lirón, y otras… necesito un colchón de plumas.
¡Las camas! ¡El gran misterio de la hotelería! Las camas… son cómodas. (Suspiro de alivio). No son colchones de plumas (¡ojalá!), pero son bastante decentes. Ni muy duras, ni demasiado blandas. Diría que están en el punto justo. Yo, que soy de esas que da vueltas y vueltas en la cama, ¡dormí bastante bien! (¡Milagro!). Eso sí… un consejo: ¡lleva tu propia almohada!
